“Distant World” Maligano Jasper Pendant – Handmade Sterling Silver Landscape Stone Statement Piece
 
Some stones immediately tell a story.
I’ve always loved Maligano Jasper for its natural landscape patterns, you often see mountains, valleys, rivers, and tree like silhouettes formed entirely by nature. But this stone was different.
When I first saw it, it didn’t feel like a landscape from Earth at all. Instead, it reminded me of the surface of a distant world — a strange grey terrain beneath an unfamiliar orange sky. Being the complete space nerd that I am, I immediately claimed it as my little “space rock” and tucked it away in my (rather large) stash of stones.
Recently, while rolling out some silver sheet for another project, the metal began forming this beautifully rugged texture along the edges. The moment I saw it, I knew exactly which stone it belonged with. I ran straight to my stash and pulled this one out .. and just like that, the design fell into place.
The result is a pendant that feels like a tiny window into another planet.
This piece has a wonderful heft to it as well. The pendant setting alone weighs 17 grams, thanks to a thick sterling silver backplate and substantial construction. There is a generous amount of silver in this piece, giving it both durability and a satisfying weight when worn.
